WWE Star References Popular AEW Team Amid WWE Departure Reports WWE

An NXT star has referenced a popular AEW team following reports and speculation about his departure from WWE.

On the August 15 edition of NXT, Jagger Reid (fka James Drake) and Rip Fowler (Zack Gibson) unsuccessfully challenged for Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo’s NXT Tag Team Title.

During the bout, Reid and Fowler hit a move that has recently been given a big spotlight on AEW TV, a double clothesline.

Reid has now taken to Twitter to comment on this, writing:

Double Clothesline?

9-5 Tuesday nights.

AEW stars MJF and Adam Cole have notably adopted the double clothesline as their tag-team finisher, with the duo using the maneuver to win the AEW Blind Eliminator Tag Team tournament.

Reid and Fowler might not be on Tuesday nights for much longer.

Dave Meltzer previously confirmed that the belief is that the duo will leave WWE when their contracts expire.

The two stars’ contracts are set to expire on October 14, in two months time.

Reid and Fowler confirmed in April that WWE denied their previous release requests.
