An update has emerged on a WWE star who has just been released by the company, amid rumors that they’ll soon sign with AEW.
Cedric Alexander was one of several WWE stars let go from their contracts on Friday night (February 7).
While Alexander won’t be able to compete for at least 90 days due to his non-compete clause, an update has already presented itself on his possible next move.
Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, AEW sources indicated that it’s expected that ‘numerous’ will push for Alexander to appear in the company.
Fightful Select noted that ‘several within the Hurt Syndicate’ are expected to push for Alexander’s debut.
Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP currently make up AEW’s Hurt Syndicate, three stars who Alexander teamed with in WWE as part of the Hurt Business faction.
Alexander is notably married to former AEW star Big Swole, who Tony Khan infamously said ‘wasn’t good enough’ in the ring in a controversial tweet which he was heavily criticised for online on New Year’s Eve 2021.
We will continue to provide more updates on Alexander and the other released WWE names as they become available.
