Released WWE Star Wins First Championship Since Departure WWE

A recently released WWE star has won their first championship since their WWE exit, winning gold on the independent scene.

Elayna Black – who wrestled on WWE NXT as Cora Jade – was released by WWE along with several other stars in May.

Following her recent return to the independent scene, Black can now call herself a champion again.

Black won the AWF (Arizona Wrestling Federation) Women’s Championship at Arizona Wrestling Federation’s All-American Grand Slam event on Saturday, June 28.

She defeated Brittnie Brooks for the gold in her debut for the promotion.

This was Black’s first ever singles title win. She previously won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship with Roxanne Perez in July 2022. Black notably threw her championship belt in a trash can one week after winning the gold, after attacking Perez.

The former Cora Jade recently commented on the possibility of her joining AEW, admitting that she originally thought she was closer to signing with them over WWE prior to signing with WWE in January 2021.
