WWE Release Rumor Killer WWE

A rumor killer regarding word going around online that a WWE star had potentially been released by the company.

Today, Olympic Gold medalist and WWE NXT/Evolve star Tyra Mae Steele posted a poll tweet that had the poll options as “Dream” and “Nightmare,” with her tweet reading:

On a weekend off working for WWE, I went back to Olympic wrestling, won gold at Worlds, prize purse was $350000…. Tried to go back to WWE that Monday. They moved me up to Raw, just to tell me they had to let me go bc I went behind their back….

Some fans and even news outlets falsely picked up this tweet and reported that Steele had been released by WWE.

That is not the case – as evidenced in her tweet, she was simply recalling a dream she had where that scenario happened, not a legitimate thing that took place.

There was no Olympic wrestling World Championship at the weekend, she didn’t win $350,000 there, and she hasn’t been fired because of it.

Who Is WWE Star Olympic Gold Medalist Tyra Mae Steele

Tyra Mae Steele, real name Tamyra Mensah Stock, joined WWE in May 2023, two years after she made an appearance at SummerSlam alongside fellow Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.

Around a year after signing, she debuted the name Tyra Mae Steele on NXT Level Up, and last year, she won the first season of WWE LFG.

This led to her, in storyline, winning an NXT contract, although in reality all LFG contestants are already signed to NXT – but the idea was she would start appearing regularly on NXT TV.

After a few NXT appearances following her LFG win, she has ended up appearing more on WWE Evolve rather than NXT in recent months.

She won her Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics – which actually took place in August 2021 due to the pandemic – in women’s freestyle wrestling at 68kg.
