Despite Nikki Cross’ WWE booking being far from stellar as of late, this year has already been one of great accomplishment, with the 34-year-old recently handing in her dissertation for her masters degree.
As well as that excellent achievement, herself and her next opponent will both have passed a significant milestone in their careers when they compete against each other for the first time since a independent show in Leicester, England nine years prior.
As announced via her Twitter Nikki Cross will be taking on Tegan Nox on WWE Main Event this week, which according to Cross is their first match since a LCW Roses match in 2014.
The personal meaning of the match for both competitors is sure to be of great significance, and will be an excellent opportunity for two underused members of the roster to showcase their ability.
Cross most recently competed in the ring on the May 8 Raw in a losing effort to Zoey Stark, appearing again on Monday’s Raw (May 15) in a backstage segment with Stark and Candice LeRae.
However, for Tegan Nox, her last showing on WWE TV was in a brief tag-team match alongside Emma against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan.
WWE’s booking of the women’s division has been the subject of criticism by fans with some reports even suggesting backstage unrest in the female locker room as a result.
Here are results from the May 15 episode of WWE Raw:
Shinsuke Nakamura def. The Miz
It was announced Liv Morgan had suffered an injury and the scheduled Women’s Tag Team Championship match was cancelled

Cody Rhodes promo on Brock Lesnar ahead of their Night of Champions match
Raquel Rodriguez def. Chelsea Green
Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest) def. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn after interference from Imperium, which had been instigated by Paul Heyman doing deals with Judgment Day and Imperium earlier in the night
