The big story of this weekend is that of WWE Crown Jewel, and WWE‘s relationship with Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Arabian government, and companies affiliated with it, have come under very heavy scrutiny after a Washington Post columnist was reportedly brutally assassinated at the Saudi government’s highest order.
Since then, major politicians – including the very influential Senator Lindsay Graham – have urged WWE to reconsider its plans to host an event in Saudi Arabia, and there were reports that WWE were working on a “plan b” if they decided to do so.
The latest development in this story is that WWE has removed all mention of Saudi Arabia from its promotion of the Crown Jewel event.
WWE.com has removed the location and ticket information from its website, and has also edited multiple articles so they no longer mention Saudi Arabia, including the preview landing page for the show, which previously read “Saudi Arabia will host…”
In the below images, notice how the article meta description still contains “Saudi Arabia,” but it has been removed from the article itself.
Crown Jewel has also been removed from WWE.com‘s calendar of events section.
Is this a sign that WWE is planning to move Crown Jewel? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter, Discord, or in the comments below!
