Despite not appearing on WWE TV since April 2019, the whole wrestling world was taking about Ronda Rousey a few months ago when the former Raw Women’s Champion had some choice words to say about her former profession.
Taking to social media, Rousey noted that wrestling was just having “fake fights for fun”, and this landed her in some hot water with some of her former colleagues currently still working for WWE.
During a recent interview with Sportskeeda, former WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield opened up about his opinions towards Ronda Rousey, and how WWE reacted to her controversial comments:
“She was the hottest thing about six months ago with all that tension she got on herself,” said JBL. “I don’t know if she did that on purpose or not, where she called wrestling fake. But she sure got a lot of heat off of it.
“I mean, if she didn’t [do it on purpose], she hit a goldmine. If she did [do it on purpose], she’s really smart. And she may be, I don’t know her. I don’t know either way. People say good things about her in the WWE that I’ve talked to.”
JBL isn’t the only former WWE Champion to give his opinion on Ronda Rousey’s comments, as Triple H also opened up about his WrestleMania 34 opponent in an interview with TMZ Sport several months ago.
“The thing with Ronda is, you never know what she is saying,” he said. “Is she attacking the business, really, or is she attacking the business because she knows that’s what lights up the fans that love the business, that are gonna wanna see you?”
