WWE Reportedly Interested In Top NJPW Star

WWE Reportedly Interested In Top NJPW Star

Last weekend, NJPW put on two nights of fantastic wrestling shows as part Wrestle Kingdom 14.

While Tetsuya Naito might have walked out as both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion, it was another NJPW star that caught many people’s attention.

On night one, Jay White lost his Intercontinental title to Tetsuya Naito. However, on night two, he successfully defeated Kota Ibushi in what was a cracking match.

It is being reported by Tom Colohue that while the McMahons didn’t watch Wrestle Kindgom, they have been impressed with the work that Jay White is doing and are interested in signing him.

According to Colohue, WWE higher-ups have been shown several Jay White matches and feel that he “fits the Vince McMahon mould”.

However, it doesn’t seem like “Switchblade” would be interested in making a move to WWE. In interviews, White has noted that he isn’t the biggest fan of WWE’s style:

“Before New Japan, I think for anyone that starts that’s kind of what you look to because that’s what you watched but then, once you realise there’s so much more out there, it’s not even like a thought on my radar. I’m happy where I am and it’s also what they do, the product and stuff. I enjoy pro wrestling as opposed to the entertainment TV stuff over there as well. People often ask, hey, if you want to come here just let me know and I’m like, I’m alright, thanks because I don’t want to go there. A lot of guys sign there early and then they stay in the developmental, or NXT, or whatever for however long just because there are so many people there it feels like these days.”

It is important to note that at this time, it is not believed that WWE has offered White any sort of deal. However, make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for the latest on this story.
