A current WWE star is making an independent wrestling return after a two-year absence from the company with familial significance.
The Judgment Day’s Carlito is set to return to the World Wrestling Council, the company founded by his father, the WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colón.
Last seen at WWC 50 Aniversario in June 2023, prior to re-signing with WWE, Carlito is set to make a return to the company on May 31 this year.
As reported on the Contralona website, WWC and WWE have come to an agreement to secure the services of Carlito for the Summer Madness event, explaining:
WWC announced on its social media that WWE Superstar Carlito will be part of the Summer Madness event, taking place on Saturday, May 31, at the Pepín Cestero Court in Bayamón. This will be the Judgment Day member’s first appearance in Puerto Rico after appearing at WWC’s 50th Anniversary in 2023.
In the WWC statement, the company said that “WWE has reached an agreement with WWC in Puerto Rico” and that “Adam Pearce (WWE Raw general manager) has authorized Carlito to be present to settle outstanding scores in Puerto Rico.”
WWC Summer Madness will take place on Saturday, May 31, at the Pepín Cestero Court in Bayamón.
Having initially signed with WWE in 2003, Carlito would join the OVW developmental territory before debuting on the main roster in June 2004, remaining with the company until his release in May 2012.
Carlito returned to WWE at Backlash in May 2023, initially siding with the LWO, leaving the group in April 2024 after being revealed as Dragon Lee’s attacker.
Attempts to join Judgment Day would initially be met with resistance until he became a member on August 5 2024 following the removal of Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest at SummerSlam.
He is a former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion and held the WWE Tag Team Championship and World Tag Team Championship with Primo.
