Former WWE Star Addresses Return Rumors

Former WWE Star Addresses Return Rumors WWE

A former WWE star has addressed reports and rumors that they’re expected to return to the company in a full-time role.

Shayna Baszler departed WWE in July, although she worked backstage during her non-compete period and appeared during September’s NXT Homecoming TV special.

A subsequent report would reveal that there are those in WWE who “expect and hope she takes a coaching or producing position.”

Baszler has now commented on a potential backstage role in WWE during a recent interview with Catch Club.

The three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion noted that while she plans to continue wrestling for the time being, she feels it’d be natural progression for her to eventually become a coach, adding:

“It’s something that’s very fulfilling to me, coaching, helping people learn about wrestling. I think I have a lot to give in the ring still, so I want to concentrate on that and get that out of my system.

“I think obviously the natural progression would be to coach. I always say, people sometimes go to school, college, university for 10 years to become a doctor or professor or something like that. I spent all my time learning combat arts, so my university was in the martial arts gym, learning how to submit people.

“That’s where my level of expertise is; it just makes sense to pass that on. I had really good coaches that did that for me, so I think I’d like to pass that on too.”

Since her WWE departure, Baszler has continued to perform on the independent wrestling scene, with her most recent match taking place at HOG x The Big Event SuperClash on November 15 with a victory over Maki Itoh.

Baszler has also commented on her championship run in NXT, calling it a highlight of her life.
