A recently released former WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion has opened up about the likelihood of a return.
Cora Jade was released from her WWE contract on May 2, one of a number of names to part ways with the company.
Having made a return to the independent wrestling scene under the name Elayna Black, the former Cora Jade has addressed a potential WWE return.
Speaking on the Power Alpha Podcast, Black praised her time in WWE but cast out the idea of making a return, saying:
“Everything happens for a reason. Again, I’m never going to bash WWE. I loved my time there.
“Did I want to lose my dream job? No, but if they called me tomorrow and asked me to come back, I would say no because right now is the time.
“I’m excited now. Obviously, I’m past the initial shock of it all and obviously it comes in waves.”
Reflecting on her WWE release, Black would also take a positive look at her plans for the future, stating:
“I come home and I’m like ‘S**t, I really did lose my dream job.’ But I feel very excited about the future.
“Who knows where I’m going to end up. I’m 24 years old. I don’t know where I’ll end up it.
“Whatever company it is, wherever I end up, I do know that I’m not done wrestling and I do want to continue wrestling.
“It’s the only thing I’ve ever known since I was 8 years old. 16 years of my life now has been dedicated to making it to WWE, and now it’s almost like a breakup in a way.”
Having appeared on AEW Dark in 2020, Black has previously discussed the possibility of signing with Tony Khan’s company.
After sharing her thoughts on her release on social media, CM Punk would reply, calling her a “dream chaser” and encouraging her to “turn it to gold”.
Black recently won her first championship since leaving WWE, which you can read more about right here.
