Potential Big Sign AEW Star Heading To WWE

Potential Big Sign AEW Star Heading To WWE WWE/AEW

Former AEW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers are potentially joining WWE, with a big sign now pointing in that direction.

As previously reported, news has emerged through a number of outlets that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are expected to be leaving AEW according to ‘multiple sources’ within the company.

Fenix has recently taken to Twitter to comment on the speculation, though nothing concrete was expressed aside from declaring The Lucha Brothers are “the best tag team in all (the) universe”.

It’s been reported that Penta’s contract is expected to expire first, with Fenix’s due to expire separately some time around September.

Interestingly, Texas based independent promotion New Era Wrestling provided an update on an upcoming show that takes place in September and was set to feature Fenix.

Per the post on Facebook from New Era Wrestling:

“Rey Fénix will be unable to participate in our Lucha Libre event on September 27th due to personal circumstances.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, as it is beyond our control.

“However, we remain committed to delivering the finest Lucha Libre experience in El Paso. We assure you of this promise.

“Please stay tuned for updates regarding the event lineup.”

This kind of withdrawal announcement can often foreshadow a talent signing with WWE, with a similar instance happening with Stephanie Vaquer recently, but we’ll keep you posted if any further details on the reason for this one emerge.

At the time of writing, Fenix hasn’t commented on his withdrawal from New Era Wrestling’s September show.

The Lucha Brothers are reportedly seeking a ‘package deal‘ with WWE and don’t want to start in NXT.

Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo have recently filed a number of trademark applications with the USPTO.
