It looks like Rey Mysterio is going to have a very busy WrestleMania weekend if the reported plans come to fruition.
With Rey Mysterio being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023, reports emerged that he was going to retire at WrestleMania 39 but the current storyline with Dominik has “reinvigorated him a little bit.”
Dave Meltzer has provided more details of the current plans for the Mysterio storyline.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Meltzer states:
“The storyline indicates something will happen at the Hall of Fame, so it’s likely the most will be a last minute addition.
“We do know that it has been discussed the idea of shooting the angle for the match on night one and then having the match at night two.
“But they also could shoot the angle and make the match earlier, such as during the Hall of Fame ceremony.”
Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas has expressed his concern over using the Hall of Fame as a storyline element.
Konnan has recently spoken about his friendship with Rey Mysterio and which of the family members he believes should pick up the win at WrestleMania 39.
WWE management has reportedly had “more and more faith” in Dominik Mysterio, which would explain his increased use on television.
The entire Mysterio Family are set to be on the March 24 episode of WWE SmackDown as the build to Rey and Dominik’s WrestleMania match continues.
