WWE Grand Slam Champion Speaks About Historic WrestleMania 39 Moment WWE

A WWE star has spoken about becoming the “first Grand Slam Champion” at WrestleMania 39 following their victory.

Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair in their match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The championship match was described as a 10-star match by Dustin Rhodes on Twitter.

Speaking at the WrestleMania press conference after the event, Rhea Ripley discussed the importance of her victory, saying:

“I mean, like you said, ‘History.’ I’m here to make history. Growing up in South Australia I was told that my dream of making it to WWE wouldn’t happen, so just making it here is an accomplishment.”

Having now held the NXT UK Women’s Championship, the NXT Women’s Championship, the Raw Women’s Championship, the WWE Women’s Championship and now the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Rhea Ripley is the fifth Women’s Grand Slam Champion, but the first to achieve that with an NXT UK Champion added to the catalogue of championships.

Addressing this achievement, Ripley effectively set a new benchmark for the record, stating:

“Being the first Grand Slam Champion, to have those championships is so satisfying. I’m so proud of my journey to WWE and journey in WWE. To have all of those moments.

“That’s one thing I strive to so, I want to write my name in the history books, and I’ve gone and done that.”
