Who In WWE Reached Out To Ricky For SmackDown Appearance Revealed

Backstage news has emerged on Ricky Gibson’s WWE SmackDown appearance, with the person who reached out to him to invite him to the show revealed.

An independent star has inspired a fan movement, with Ricky Gibson of Midnight Heat almost teaming with Kevin Owens on the September 13 SmackDown episode.

Gibson – who was only referred to as ‘Ricky’ – made his entrance to team with Owens against A-Town Down Under, before it was revealed that Owens’ first choice, Randy Orton, was in the building.

Ricky was ultimately taken out by Owens before the bout, leading to many fans calling for him to return for an actual WWE match.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ricky Gibson revealed that Gabe Sapolsky had reached out to him to invite him to be an extra:

“Gabe Sapolsky reached out a couple weeks ago and said SmackDown and Raw were going to be in Seattle and Portland, it would be great if you could make it to Seattle for extra work.

“I just showed up. Like everyone does, you put on a suit, you go to catering, and you hope for the best.”

Adding to the lore of Ricky in WWE, Gibson stated:

“The difference was, I was walking around the hallways, and there is Kevin Owens walking around. He’s walking around like he has no clue what he’s doing. I go, ‘Hey, what can do for you? Can I help you?’ It was perfect. I’m a tag team guy. When he was like, ‘I need a tag team partner.’ It was easy for me to step up and be like, ‘I’m your guy.’

“I saw him ask Booker (Booker T) and RVD (Rob Van Dam). I saw him ask a ton of different guys. Everyone is saying no. I’m your guy. Who else?”
