Thunder Rosa has reacted to the current storyline in WWE NXT that has seen Ilja Dragunov ‘injured’ at the hands of Ridge Holland.
The December 19 episode of WWE NXT saw Dragunov stretchered out after his match with Holland.
The angle was considered ‘controversial‘ by some in WWE before it was delivered on screen according to a previous report.
Discussing the controversy on Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa expressed her concern, saying:
“When you have to run angles when it’s very close to reality … his opponent, of course, was the one who was in the ring when Big E got hurt, and he got hurt fairly badly to the point where it’s an ending career injury.
“It got intense [on Twitter] because people were calling him [Holland] all kinds of stuff, probably even got death threats, who knows.”
Big E has been out of action since his injury on the March 11, 2022 edition of SmackDown which was revealed to be a broken neck.
Thunder Rosa would go on to discuss her opinion of the angle, paying it off and Holland’s history, adding:
“For me, personally, there are certain things that … they have to have a big payoff and I think you have to be in the ring and you have to sign it with blood
“When you’re playing with fire with someone who already has a bad ‘track record,’ it’s going to be difficult.
“If they label him as an unsafe worker and they then do this and it turns out to be true, what else are they gonna do?”
She would concede that both men did an amazing job with the story in the match but was not pleased that negative comments have been sent to Holland.I
In July 2023, Holland went on Twitter to explain the spot in which Elton Prince of Pretty Deadly suffered an injury.
