WWE Hall Of Famer Names Surprise Dream Opponent WWE

A Hall of Famer has named their choice of dream opponent if they were to have one more match in a WWE ring.

Brian James is the current Senior Vice President of Live Events and a WWE Hall of Famer who had worked in a backstage capacity for the company since 2016.

Recently, on his Oh… You Didn’t Know podcast, the former Road Dogg was asked who he would choose to face if he were to ever lace up his boots again.

The former New Age Outlaw offered GUNTHER as the answer, saying:

“I would work with GUNTHER and the reason being, I’m an old relic but one that is quasi-marketable and quasi-promotable.”

On the subject of marketability, James built a compelling storyline for the dream encounter, suggesting that there’d be an air of sympathy from the audience, hoping to get a “really? him?” reaction.

This would, ideally, lead to that “glimmer of hope” reaction where the imagination lights up with the possibility of the old-timer getting the upper hand, with Road Dogg going on to describe:

“He’d chop me to death and I can promise you this when that comeback came, Jack, you better stuff in big man, because it’s my turn … and that’s exciting.”

He would go on to say that he can’t imagine having a match at his age (being only 54) but he does enjoy considering how to put together a match with his limitations, saying:

“How do you work with a guy who’s fat and has no wind?”

Road Dogg wrestled his last match in January 2015 with the New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn & Road Dogg) losing to The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor)

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019 wth D-Generation X and held the WWE Tag Team Championship one time and the WWF Tag Team Championships five times with Billy Gunn.

He also saw singles success being a former WWF Hardcore and Intercontinental Champion.

The current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther will be in action at Night of Champions, facing Mustafa Ali.

The card for WWE Night of Champions 2023 on Saturday, May 27 is as follows:

World Heavyweight Championship – Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins vs. AJ Styles

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c) vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Natalya

Intercontinental Championship – Gunther (c) vs. Mustafa Ali
