A WWE name recently reunited with a star that they consider their “old arch-nemesis”, sharing knowledge with a new generation of talent.
Robert Stone is the interim general manager of WWE NXT, having been installed in the position following the departure of Ava earlier this year.
With Stone having recently commented on NXT working with other promotions, the interim authority figure has visited the training school run by a former rival.
Stone recently visited the D’Von Academy, run by WWE Hall of Famer D’Von Dudley, and shared his thoughts on the experience and their history, tweeting:
“Caught up with my old arch-nemesis, WWE and @ThisIsTNA Hall of Famer @TestifyDVon last night.
“This is the same guy who beat me for my TNA Television Championship. Over the years, we fought each other all over the country, even inside a steel cage.”
The post was accompanied by photos of the pair together, with Stone going on to reflect on the training school and its students, sharing:
“Last night I got to talk with the students at the wrestling school he’s been running for nearly 20 years. Passing knowledge on to the next generation never gets old…
“Time flies in this industry, but nights like yesterday remind you how many great memories were made along the way.”
The pair crossed paths a number of times over in TNA Wrestling, where Dudley featured as Devon and Stone was known as Robbie E.
Their TNA Television Championship feud in 2012 would see Devon retain the title on house shows, IMPACT Wrestling and Xplosion.
Having parted ways with TNA Wrestling in September 2017, the former Robbie E would sign with WWE in March 2019, initially competed on NXT.
Partway through 2024, he would go on to become the assistant to NXT General Manager Ava, sharing the role with Stevie Turner, going on to also be a commentary partner on Evolve.
Bubba Ray Dudley has recently pitched for Stone to become the official NXT General Manager, saying that he has done an ‘off-the-charts job’.
At the time of writing, it isn’t clear when a general manager for NXT will be formally named, although the brand is heading towards its next premium live event: Stand & Deliver 2026 on April 4 in St. Louis, Missouri.
