Lilian Garcia has commented on her latest return to WWE, and how her role with the company will be changing.

The veteran ring announcer returned to the company for the October 21, 2024 edition of Raw, replacing Samantha Irvin following her departure.

It was later confirmed that Garcia had re-signed with WWE, with Garcia serving as the SmackDown ring announcer full-time from January 3 to March 14.

Garcia finished up as the SmackDown ring announcer with the March 14 episode, with the WWE name now set to be the announcer for the quarterly Saturday Night’s Main Event specials.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Garcia commented on her stepping down from her SmackDown role during the European tour.

Providing clarification on her transition away from being a full-time ring announcer, Garcia said:

“I think that they actually were like, ‘How can we make this really meaningful?’ – So when they told me, ‘We do wanna go ahead and have Spain be your final one and you’re good to go ahead and announce that on social media’. Because I was like, ‘How are we gonna let people know?’

“I don’t want people to think that it’s me that didn’t wanna do it for some reason or that I got tired of being on the road or anything. But I also knew – they were very upfront with me and I respect that. They have a vision, and that’s fine. They have a vision as to what they wanna do. But I also love that they were like, ‘But we’re not done with you yet, we want you here, and we keep an open mind, and let’s use you here’, so I’m excited.”

Discussing her role announcing for Saturday Night’s Main Event specials moving forward, she explained:

“It’s kind of like when you see Trish or you see Rock or you see John every now and then, sprinkled through. So I take that as a complete compliment, I absolutely do.”
