Roman Reigns Surpasses CM Punk WWE Record

Roman Reigns Surpasses CM Punk WWE Record WWE/AEW

Roman Reigns continues to rack up the records in WWE and this time it’s one previously held by AEW’s CM Punk.

In November 2011, at Survivor Series, CM Punk would become WWE Champion, holding the belt for 434 days.

This would be after he had won the championship at Money in the Bank in July 2011, leading to a 28 day run that would see him briefly leave the company only to return on July 25.

During his absence, Rey Mysterio and John Cena would hold the belt before Punk recaptured it at SummerSlam on August 14 2011, losing it to Alberto Del Rio who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.

With two reigns under his belt and a combined reign of 462 days, CM Punk is definitely a WWE Champion for the history books.

Roman Reigns, however, continues to eclipse all those who came before him.

Reigns has held the WWE World Championship for 435 days and also become the first wrestler to break CM Punk’s title record with the WWE Championship.

The belts were unified as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38 in April, 2022 when Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar.

Reigns celebrated 1,000 days as Universal Champion on the June 2, 2023 episode of WWE SmackDown and was presented with a new championship belt in recognition.

The celebration would be cut short, however, thanks to the ongoing internal issues with the fractured state of The Bloodline.

Roman Reigns is set to face a WWE Hall of Famer on June 17 in a rare appearance with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line.
