Update On Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania Status WWE

With the news that Ronda Rousey is dealing with more than an arm injury, an update on her WrestleMania 39 status has emerged.

It was recently reported that Rousey wasn’t able to train due to knee and ACL issues with Rhea Ripley tagging with Shayna Baszler on recent WWE live events.

Previously, it had been reported that Rousey would be in action at WrestleMania 39, teaming with Natalya in a fatal four-way with previous plans of involvement in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match also emerging.

In the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Dave Meltzer provided a new update on Rousey stating:

“The decision was made to nix the planned storyline that was leading to Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler getting a shot (and presumably winning) the women’s tag titles.

“No direct reason was given, although the idea that Rousey has a fractured arm and thus wasn’t going to be around for a television build for a title match at Mania probably factored into it.

“The feeling is why throw on a WrestleMania title match when you can’t really build it effectively right now.

“Rousey is still on the show at this point, as far as the newly announced four-team tag team match for both men and women.”

A previous report had stated that Rousey was dealing with a re-aggravated injury with sources stating it was a hairline fracture in her arm.

The injury had seen a change to the Ronda Rousey & Shayne Baszler vs Tegan Nox & Natalya match on the March 3 episode of WWE SmackDown.

The tag match was changed to a singles between Baszler and Nox.
