A WWE star has opened up about their involvement in WWE 2k23 and the doubts that came with it before its release.
WWE 2k23 was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 17 2023 and has gone on to receive largely positive reviews.
With a stacked roster, not everyone in WWE is guaranteed to make the final cut and Roxanne Perez was among them.
In an interview with Fightful, Perez gave some insight into the game development process, saying:
“So, they did do scans. But they told us, ‘Hey, we don’t know for sure if you’re gonna be in the game, but just do a scan in case.’
“So I was like, ‘Alright. Hopefully I’m in the game,’ and then I saw the announcement and I was like, ‘This is insane.’”
She would then go on to reveal her emotional reaction to seeing herself in the game, adding:
“I did a press conference and I was able to play the game as myself for the first time.
“I literally almost started crying because I was like, ‘This is insane to see myself in a WWE video game,’ games I used to play growing up as a kid nonstop. It’s insane.”
Roxanne Perez signed with WWE in March 2022 as part of the NXT brand and would go on to become NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion (with Cora Jade).
