The director for Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble 2026 premium live event has been revealed, following a backstage change.
This year’s Royal Rumble event is now in the books, emanating from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31.
Backstage details have emerged on the production of the show, which saw four big matches take place.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, SmackDown Director Lee Lipschulz directed Royal Rumble 2026.
Lipschulz is usually the director for broadcasts for WWE Countdown pre-shows, and PLE post-shows.
It was noted that Marty Miller, who usually directs WWE’s major events and WWE Raw, wasn’t in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and he instead stayed in the US to direct TKO’s Zuffa Boxing 02 event slated for February 1.
Two Royal Rumble winners were crowned during Saturday’s broadcast, with Liv Morgan winning the women’s Rumble, and Roman Reigns winning the men’s match in the main event of the show.
Two massive singles matches took place between the two Royal Rumbles, with GUNTHER defeating AJ Styles to force him to retire, and Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Title against Sami Zayn.
