Nearly a decade on from his last WWE match, former United States and Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella is set for his IMPACT Wrestling debut at the upcoming Rebellion PPV on April 16.
As announced on this week’s episode of IMPACT, Marella will team up with Dirty Dango (FKA Fandango) and Joe Hendry to take on The Design in a six-man tag.
Since first appearing for IMPACT at January’s Hard to Kill event, Marella has taken up an on-screen role as the ‘Director of Authority’.
Despite his lack of major in-ring action over the last decade, Marella has remained fairly active on the independent scene, most recently wrestling on March 18 ScrapperMania VII in Dublin, Ireland.
Elsewhere on the Rebellion card is the match for the now vacant IMPACT World Heavyweight Title between KUSHIDA and Steve Maclin.
The event will also see the in-ring return of former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham, who will compete against ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey and Trey Miguel for the X-Division Title.
Gresham would recently discuss his ROH title loss to Claudio Castagnoli last year and the ‘heated’ confrontation he had with AEW President Tony Khan, which you can read more about at this link.
