Top WWE Star To Miss Raw Ahead Of Night Of Champions WWE

A top WWE star is set to miss this coming Monday’s May 22 episode of WWE Raw, the last episode of the show before Night of Champions.

Even though it’s the last chance for some build before the major show on May 27, a name from one of the top matches won’t be there.

That name is Seth Rollins, who wasn’t at this past Monday’s Raw either.

His absence is because he’s been filming for MCU movie Captain America: New World Order.

The shoot caused Rollins to miss the latest Raw, and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he won’t be at the next one either.

Instead, Rollins appeared in a pre-recorded backstage interview to help hype up his Night of Champions match against AJ Styles to decide the first holder of the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

WRKD Wrestling actually reported earlier this week that there was some “hesitancy” backstage about putting the title on Rollins, in case he ends up taking time off for more outside projects like this one.

The whole premise of the new championship is it would be on someone who’s around full-time, unlike Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, so if Rollins was to win and then have to take more time off, it would kind of defeat the point.

Nonetheless, he won’t be at Raw on Monday according to the Observer. It wasn’t mentioned whether there was more pre-taped stuff planned so he can at least have some kind of presence on the show even while not being there in person.

Here are results from the May 15 episode of WWE Raw:

Shinsuke Nakamura def. The Miz

It was announced Liv Morgan had suffered an injury and the scheduled Women’s Tag Team Championship match was cancelled

Mustafa Ali won a battle royal to become #1 contender for Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions

Becky Lynch returned and cut a promo on Trish Stratus, challenging her to a match at Night of Champions

Dominik Mysterio def. Xavier Woods

As JD McDonagh left the arena after an interview, there was a tease of Finn Balor scouting him to recruit him for Judgment Day

Indus Sher (Sanga & Veer) def. two jobbers

Cody Rhodes promo on Brock Lesnar ahead of their Night of Champions match

Raquel Rodriguez def. Chelsea Green

Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest) def. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn after interference from Imperium, which had been instigated by Paul Heyman doing deals with Judgment Day and Imperium earlier in the night
