More backstage details have been revealed about Shinsuke Nakamura making a surprise return on last night’s WWE SmackDown.
WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura made a return to television for the first time since April on last night’s SmackDown, striking up a new title feud.
Nakamura appeared in the ring and laid out LA Knight with a Kinshasa after Knight had just retained the United States Championship against Berto.
According to a report from Fightful Select, his return on last night’s WWE SmackDown may have surprised fans but it had been planned for “a number of weeks”.
Also, while Nakamura was not listed on internal rundowns for the show, the report notes that he was on the script.
Nakamura hasn’t been on TV since April but has been wrestling on live events in the meantime, and wasn’t out due to an injury.
Elsewhere in backstage news coming out of WWE SmackDown from last night’s show, there was concern about a match finish being spoiled.
