Sami Zayn is set to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship on the February 18 edition of WWE SmackDown.
It was confirmed on this week’s show that the title bout will air on the night before the WWE Elimination Chamber live event. The episode will be taped on February 11, so talents are free to travel to Saudi Arabia for February 19.
Zayn became #1 contender to the Intercontinental Title on the Christmas Eve edition of SmackDown, after winning the 12 Days of Christmas gauntlet match. Nakamura was previously out of action due to a hand injury, but returned to the ring last week.
WWE Elimination Chamber will be the company’s first live event in Saudi Arabia of 2022, and their most recent since Crown Jewel in October 2021. Zayn has not participated in previous Saudi Arabia shows, primarily due to the country’s strained relationship with Syria.
Nakamura has held the Intercontinental Title since defeating Apollo Crews in August 2021. Stay up to date with every WWE title change in 2022 using our tracker, at this link.
