There has been an update on a WWE show potentially becoming TV-14 rated following a recent television listing.
WWE NXT is set to officially move to it’s new home on the CW Network tonight, with the debut show on the Network set to take place in Chicago.
Ahead of the show’s move, speculation emerged online regarding the show’s future, due to the CW listing the show as a TV-14 rated show, with the show previously being listed as PG on the USA Network.
In an update on the show from Fightful Select (Subscription required), several NXT sources, ranging from production to talent, noted that none of them had been told of an impending shift in presentation, nor has anyone been told that the show will be TV-14.
In regards to the age rating, a source in WWE production noted that it would be strange to see NXT change rating, but not Raw and SmackDown, but also noted that, with NXT moving to network TV, this could be a way to prevent the need to censor crowd chants and other usages of swear words on the program.
While no sources that spoke to Fightful were able to completely rule out a possible shift in age rating, those within the company were all sceptical of the possibility of the change, due to it causing issues with advertisers on the brand.
Tonight’s show is set to feature an NXT Championship main event between Ethan Page and Trick Williams, with CM Punk serving as the special referee.
We will provide any updates on NXT’s age rating as they become available.
