WWE To Sign AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita Soon? AEW

Konosuke Takeshita has taken AEW fans by storm in recent months, but he may find himself in WWE pretty soon.

Takeshita impressed fans with yet another great outing this past weekend, this time against Claudio Castagnoli at Battle of the Belts.

When asked how long Takeshita will be with AEW, Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is currently looking to sign a big Japanese star.

Meltzer didn’t report that WWE is looking to sign Takeshita specifically, and he doesn’t even know if he’d be contractually available, but he did say Takeshita is someone who fits the bill of “exactly” what WWE is looking for, so he could be on the company’s radar.

Answering the question of how long Takeshita will be around in AEW, Meltzer replied:

“A year or so. Enough time to make him something. He’s living here, but even if he goes back, they can bring him in any time they want. It’s not like he’ll be here for a year and then they can never use him again.

“So the fact that they don’t have him under a five-year deal or anything like that, shouldn’t be incumbent on (how they use him). I don’t know what his deal is with DDT.

“WWE, if he doesn’t have a full-time deal somewhere… WWE is looking for a big Japanese guy as we speak, and this guy’s got some size, and he’s young, and he’s got a good body, and he’s a fantastic wrestler. So somebody there may stumble upon him and be interested, because he’s exactly what they’re looking for.”

Takeshita’s win/loss record in AEW this year is 7-7-0, with his only TV win coming against Ryan Nemeth on this past Friday’s Rampage. Many fans have said they want to see him pick up some big wins that aren’t just on Dark and Elevation. You can find full 2022 AEW win/loss records at this link.

Do you think Takeshita would be a good pickup for WWE?
