WWE has just signed a history making Olympic gold medalist after she announced that she was hanging up her amateur boots.
Announced in a story from ESPN, Tamyra Mensah-Stock has signed with WWE.
Tamyra Mensah-Stock gained more mainstream media attention after competing in the Tokyo games in 2021 where she captured a Gold medal.
Mensah-Stock made history in Tokyo as the first Black female to win gold in freestyle wrestling, competing at 68kg.
She told ESPN that she reported to the WWE Performance Center on Monday and her goal is to be on the main roster within one year.
She joins another Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo in the WWE recruitment pool, Gable Steveson.
However Steveson has notably elected to pursue further wrestling outside of the realm of sports entertainment, instead training for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
