Former Champion’s WWE Run Was Originally Only Meant To Last Six Months WWE

A former champion was originally told that his run with the company was intended to be a six month gig.

Dylan Postl – better known to WWE fans as Hornswoggle – signed with WWE in May 2006, and remained with the company up until his release in May 2016.

With Postl offered a nostalgia deal last year, the former Cruiserweight Champion recalled this moment on the Ariel Helwani Show, noting:

“It was August of 2024, me and my son, Landon… we’re on the way to Blink 182 and I get a call from WWE saying ‘Hey, we want to offer you a nostalgia deal’.

“I mean, I did the appearance at the Greatest Royal Rumble, and at the women’s Royal Rumble, but just about 10 years I’ve been away from the company.

“I literally pulled off the highway and called my dad.”

Dylan Postl recalled his dad telling him following his previous WWE exit not to say a bad thing against the company or burn his bridges, because of how he felt when he first got hired.

Noting that he was initially told his WWE career was only set to last six months, Postl said:

“I always say, I shouldn’t have ever made it. I’m not six foot, I’m not 300 pounds, thank God. It’s one of those things where I shouldn’t have made it in WWE. They told me when I got hired it was going to be a six-month gig, and it was two weeks under 10 years.

“To be able to last as long as I did, then get released, then be welcomed back with a nostalgia deal is insane.”

Dylan Postl recently pitched a rematch against AAA’s Microman, following Microman’s Triplemania XXXIII appearance.
