An update has emerged on WWE SmackDown’s runtime changing back to its former runtime of two hours.
Beginning with its first episode of 2025 back on Friday, January 3, SmackDown has been a three hour program on the USA Network, a change from its traditional two hour runtime it’s become known for throughout its 25 years on television.
While SmackDown’s three hour runtime has divided fan opinion over the last five months, Triple H confirmed in January that the change was a temporary one, and that the show would return to two hours in the future.
While the exact date for SmackDown reverting to two hours has never been confirmed by WWE, the June 6, 2025 episode of SmackDown was recently reported to be when the two hour runtime could potentially return.
However, according to a new update from PWInsider Elite (via WrestlingNews.co), that may not be the case after all, as the USA Network reportedly has SmackDown listed internally for three hour episodes in early June.
As noted in the report the original plan was for the change to be implemented in the early Summer, however, it’s not currently whether that is still the case following this latest update.
We will provide more information on SmackDown’s runtime change as it becomes available.
