WWE SmackDown Live in Brief: July 17, 2018 – WrestleTalk

The rest of the show was very promo heavy, but there was still a lot going on.

Becky Lynch’s heel turn is edging ever closer after she and Charlotte defeated the IIconics in a tag match. Charlotte seems to realise Becky is upset with her after managing to insert her into the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam, and last night proved she was right.

Becky was visibly unhappy with what had happened, and although made an effort to stay chummy with Charlotte, there was a clear barrier between the two that will only increase in size in the next two weeks.

It’s now just a case of WHEN she will turn heel rather than IF it seems. A heel Becky is something fans won’t have seen on the main roster, but if anyone’s going to be able to pull it off, it’s her.

And speaking of SummerSlam feuds, Daniel Bryan and Miz has finally been announced for the show, with the Miz accepting the challenge in, you guessed it, a backstage promo. While cutting another promo later in the evening, Miz was interrupted by an incensed Daniel Bryan, who, doesn’t seem to be turning heel, but is more of the “babyface that destroys everything” kind of guy now, which is fine by me.

The crazed look on Bryan’s face shows how much getting his hands on the Miz means to him, and the two men are making this match one of the must see moments at the biggest party of the summer.

Oh, and Aiden English cost Lana another match so it’s looking like Aiden vs Rusev at the SummerSlam pre-show. Yay.
