WWE SmackDown Match Finish Was A Shoot, Planned Finish Revealed

WWE SmackDown Match Finish Was A Shoot, Planned Finish Revealed WWE

A finish on last night’s WWE SmackDown show was reportedly a shoot, with the planned finish now being revealed.

Last night’s episode of SmackDown saw the WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green in action against Zelina Vega.

The finish was a rather confusing one, with the match ending via countout after Chelsea had been arguing with the announcers and audience at ringside.

In an update on the finish from PWInsider, the finish to the match was not what was originally planned, and was a shoot.

According to sources that spoke to PWInsider, the belief is that Chelsea legitimately didn’t hear the referee’s count as it was getting to ten, so the countout was legitimate.

When the referee made it to ten, they had no choice but to call for the bell as a shoot, as they couldn’t ignore the countout on live television.

One person was of the belief that, when Chelsea tossed Vega back into the ring, Chelsea thought the referee would start the count anew, and she didn’t hear the referee and get back in the ring in time.

There was reportedly no injury or anything else that forced an early finish, and it was just a legitimate miscommunication, with the match originally slated to go a few minutes longer.

The original planned finish was believed to be Vega winning, so the match still managed to set up next week’s six-woman tag team match, except the finish was a legitimate countout instead of the planned finish.

There was no heat on anyone involved backstage after the match, with it just being one of those things that happens when it’s live television.
