WWE SmackDown Overnight Viewership Revealed For January 8

The overnight viewership figure and rating for last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX have been revealed, courtesy of ShowBuzz Daily.

The site is reporting that last night’s show brought in an average of 2.0025million viewers, which is down from the 2.013million figure that the special New Year’s Day episode averaged last week.

Last night’s show, which featured two title matches, also brought in an 0.50 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic. This is also down from the 0.53 rating that last week’s show brought in.

The show last night saw Big E successfully defend his Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews, and Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode defeat The Street Profits to win the SmackDown tag titles.

We also saw a massive gauntlet match to determine the challenger to Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship at Royal Rumble, with Shinsuke Nakamura pinning Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio and King Corbin clean.

The match was ultimately won by WWE official Adam Pearce after both he and Shinsuke were attacked by Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. Pearce will now face Roman Reigns at the upcoming pay-per-view later this month.
