The replacement for WWE SmackDown has been revealed by its current broadcast partner when the television rights come to an end this year.
In June 2018, Fox announced a five-year broadcast deal to air WWE SmackDown with that deal coming to an end later this year.
It was previously revealed by Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch that the broadcast partner chose not to renew its deal with WWE as it was, in part, “not hitting the advertising numbers due to the audience” that the company attracts.
With Fox revealing its Fall 2024 schedule, the replacement for WWE SmackDown on Friday nights has also been revealed.
According to the schedule for the upcoming season, the Friday 8PM ET/5PM PT slot will be taken by Fox College Football Friday/Fox College Hoops/Fox UFL.
With WWE Raw moving to Netflix in 2025, there has been discussion of shows changing from their traditional Monday and Friday dates.
Both WWE President Nick Khan and Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel have previously shared the belief that neither show is locked to a specific night of the week.
In September 2023, it was reported that the deal between WWE and USA Network was valued at roughly $1.4 billion according to sources familiar with the situation.
