On the Friday March 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, a tag match was changed to a singles match and the reason for this has now been revealed.
As previously reported, WWE SmackDown was meant to see Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler taking on Tegan Nox & Natalya.
The match was changed though, with a backstage brawl giving us a storyline reason why we would suddenly see Baszler taking on Nox.
Further details for the match change have now been revealed by PW Torch.
Wade Keller reports that Rousey has “aggravated a prior injury” although it isn’t expected to affect her availability for WrestleMania 39 on April 1 & 2.
It was recently revealed that a change to a planned WrestleMania 39 match between Ronda Rousey and Rhea Ripley for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship had been changed with Rousey having an interest in pursuing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Baszler instead.
In the recent edition of Wrestling Observer News, Dave Meltzer revealed that we’re going to see “several twists and turns” in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship story.
The championships are currently held by Lita and Becky Lynch.
