There has been a major update on WWE SmackDown’s reported move to become a three hour show in January 2025.
Yesterday (September 19) it was reported on WrestleVotes Radio that Friday Night SmackDown would be gaining an extra hour of programming beginning on January 3, 2025.
Now, in a follow up to that report, WrestleVotes Radio added some important extra details regarding the change, revealing that this change is in fact only planned to be a temporary one as of right now.
This will reportedly take affect for six months from January 3 until some time in June next year, with SmackDown moving back to two hours after that point:
“Something else we wanted to touch on quickly when we mentioned that SmackDown will be moving to three hours.
“As of right now, the chatter internally is that is only for 6 months.
“(3 hours) is gonna start in January when Raw moves to 3 hours. The plan right now is that 6 months down the road, SmackDown then goes back to 2 hours.”
As well as these changes to SmackDown, Raw is also set to see some alterations to its runtime in the coming months, with the Monday night show set to be reduced from three hours to two beginning on October 7.
Like SmackDown’s change however, this will also be temporary as Raw is reportedly set to move back to its usual three hour runtime when it begins life on Netflix in January.
