WWE SmackDown Viewership Slightly Down For Royal Rumble Go-Home Show

The viewership figures for the Royal Rumble go-home edition of WWE SmackDown on January 28 have been revealed.

As per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, last week’s episode drew an average of 2.217 million viewers. This is slightly down from the 2.255 million viewers who tuned in for the January 21 show.

In the 18-49 demographic, Friday’s show scored a 0.56 rating, down from the previous week’s impressive 0.64 rating. SmackDown ranked #2 for January 28 in this key demo.

During the episode, Big E returned to SmackDown, teaming with Kofi Kingston to defeat Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins also featured on the show in their final confrontation before their Universal Title match at Royal Rumble.

At Saturday’s pay-per-view, Rollins defeated Reigns by DQ, when Reigns refused to let go of his choke hold. Reigns then attacked Rollins with a chair, mirroring Rollins breaking up The Shield in 2014. The originally planned finish to this match has now reportedly been revealed.
