WWE is said to be planning ‘something big’ for AAA TripleMania 34 in September following Noche de los Grandes.
The biggest match in AAA since WWE bought the company last year took place last weekend, when El Grande Americano defeated the Original El Grande Americano in an instant classic mask vs. mask match.
The match took place on night one of the Noche de los Grandes event, with many wondering why the match between the two El Grandes wasn’t run on WrestleMania 42, or even held off until TripleMania in September.
WWE Planning ‘Something Big’ For AAA TripleMania 34
Speaking about the match on his Keepin’ It 100 Podcast, Konnan, who serves as a member of the creative team for AAA, noted that he would have put the mask vs. mask match on TripleMania, but notes that the company has ‘something big’ planned for the show.
He said:
“I would have put (Mask vs. Mask) on TripleMania, but they’ve got something big for TripleMania.”
El Grande Americano: AAA Mega Champion?
While there are a number of potential ‘big’ things that WWE could run at TripleMania, which will now take place over two nights, the first taking place on September 11 in Las Vegas, the obvious prediction would be a AAA Mega Championship main event between El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio.
El Grande Americano captured the coveted Rey de Reyes Tournament back in March, which earned him a future shot at the AAA Mega Championship held by Dominik Mysterio.
With Americano catching fire in AAA, it seems inevitable that he will eventually be crowned the next AAA Mega Champion, especially given the history between he and Dominik, and that AAA’s biggest show of the year could be the night to pull the trigger.
A moment in the match where Chad Gable returns to AAA to fight off JD McDonagh would make the moment all the better.
Chad Gable’s Next Apology
Chad Gable has made appearances on both Raw and SmackDown since his unmasking, with him in the process of apologising to the various luchadores on the roster after disrespecting them for the past year and a half.
Gable’s apologies have been accepted by Rey Fenix, Penta, Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio, while Mysterio told Gable that there are others he needs to apologise too, even before he put on the mask.
Gable made the save for Mysterio after he had his mask ripped off by Rusev on tonight’s WWE Raw show, with him continuing to earn his way back into the hearts of the WWE fans.
As for who else Gable will apologise to after Rey’s comments, the obvious answer would be Otis and Akira Tozawa of the Alpha Academy after Gable abused the pair after turning heel back in 2024.
