WWE Star Reacts To Fans Praising Non-Wrestling Role WWE

Sonya Deville has reflected on her time as an on-screen authority figure on WWE SmackDown and Raw during 2021 and most of 2022.

SummerSlam in August 2020 would see Deville lose to Mandy Rose in a ‘Loser Leaves WWE’ match.

She would return in January 2021, joining Adam Pearce as the on-screen assistant to the WWE SmackDown General Manager, going on to be an authority figure in her own right on WWE Raw.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Deville reflected on her time as an authority figure and the fan reaction, saying praise for that role is actually what she hears the most from fans

She explained:

“Funny enough, I think it’s mostly, ‘I loved you as GM’. Which I’m always like, ‘Oh wow, really?’

“Because I loved being GM. I think it was a natural fit, it was great, it was an evolution of my character, but… I wanna be in the ring. I wanna be hitting people, I wanna be hurting people, I wanna be cutting promos and hurting people with my words too. But that’s what a lot of people say.”

Deville would return to in-ring competition on the May 9, 2022 episode of WWE Raw after stepping over the line one too many times as an authority figure.

Having suffered an ACL injury in July 2023, Deville returned to WWE television on May 20, 2024, after almost ten months away.

She was forced to vacate the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in July 2023 and recently spoke about the moment she realised how serious the injury was.
