A WWE stable has reportedly been quietly disbanded internally within the company following the release of one of it’s members.
When Bayley returned from injury at SummerSlam 2022, she didn’t come alone, as she brought with her Dakota Kai and IYO SKY to create the group known as Damage CTRL.
Damage CTRL would end up growing in numbers over the years, with both Kairi Sane and Asuka joining the group in 2023, before the group continued with just IYO, Dakota, Asuka and Kairi after Bayley was kicked out in February 2024.
Shortly after WrestleMania 40, Asuka was sidelined with an injury that kept her out of action for over a year, with Damage CTRL continuing as a trio, during which time both Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai both suffered injuries.
Last month, Dakota Kai was one of a number of WWE stars released from the company, and with Kairi Sane still injured at the time, IYO SKY was the only active member of the group on television.
Kairi has since returned to WWE television and has remained aligned with IYO, and Asuka is set to make her long awaited return on tomorrow night’s episode of Raw, but it seems as though the group is over following Dakota’s release.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Damage CTRL was quietly disbanded in early May when Dakota was released from the company, with the note to no longer announce the remaining members as representing the group being handed down.
The group had already been ended behind the scenes by the time Kairi made her return from injury.
With Asuka set to return tomorrow night, Fightful asked if that meant the group still had life, with them being told that as of the time that creative was developed, it didn’t.
Fightful was told that this doesn’t mean that any combinations of the group couldn’t end up teaming together when they are healthy, or that the name could eventually be revived.
