WWE’s stance on the potential acquisition of Britt Baker from AEW has been revealed amid speculation her status in the company.
Amid her ongoing absence from AEW TV, a report from PWTorch’s Wade Keller began a wave of coverage regarding the status of Britt Baker.
Per Keller’s report, the belief is that Tony Khan is “fed up” of Baker, with the former AEW Women’s World Champion “wildly unpopular” backstage and some not wanting her to return to TV.
In response, the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez said the stories regarding Baker’s status had been “blown way out of proportion”, noting that while there doesn’t seem to be any imminent return plans for her there’s no truth to the claim that she’s done with AEW.
Now chiming in on the situation is WrestleVotes, who addressed whether WWE have interest in Baker amid the questions regarding her future.
During the latest edition of WrestleVotes Radio on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, it was noted that WWE would have interest in signing Baker should she become available, but the company doesn’t expect that to happen any time soon:
“We followed up on the Brit Baker potentially being out of AEW story. We did ask an AEW source for clarification, which was met with no comment.
We then asked the WWE source if the company would be interested in her if she became available. That’s the key, if she became available, which we were told a resounding yes, but they don’t expect that to be the case anytime soon.
“WWE does not expect Britt Baker to be available anytime soon.”
Baker last competed on AEW TV during the November 13 episode of Dynamite, where she took on Penelope Ford in singles action.
After her match with Ford a feud was seemingly teased to continuing between Baker and Serena Deeb, of whom Baker had beaten a month prior. However, no rematch ever materialised between the two.
We will provide further updates on Baker’s AEW status and potential return as more information becomes available.
