A current WWE star has noted that the faction they were a member of during their time in AEW should have been ‘one of the best’.
Shawn Spears made his return to WWE last May, when he reappeared on the NXT brand, attacking Ridge Holland with a steel chair.
Spears had previously been in WWE NXT as Tye Dillinger up until his release in 2019, where he then joined AEW, debuting by taking out Cody Rhodes to set up a match between the two at AEW All Out that year.
During his time in AEW, Spears most notably became a member of the Pinnacle stable alongside MJF, FTR and Wardlow, with the group feuding with Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle in 2021.
The Pinnacle ended up quietly disbanding shortly after, with many looking at the group as one of the bigger what ifs in AEW history, and Spears himself seems to agree.
When one fan asked Spears in a Q&A why the group never ended up becoming one of the top heel factions of all-time, Spears simply responded:
Easily should have been.
Spears recently formed the Culling stable in NXT alongside Brooks Jensen, Niko Vance and Izzi Dame, with Jensen recently being removed from the group.
Easily should have been. https://t.co/NheDYWgVG0
