WWE Backlash is headed to Puerto Rico this Saturday, with multi-time Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny set for his first-ever singles match in WWE.
The ‘host’ of Backlash is set to face off with Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight on the show.
The match was originally intended to be a tag team bout, pitting Bunny and Rey Mysterio against Priest and Dominik Mysterio, but the company changed plans due to being confident in Bunny’s ability to perform in a singles match.
WWE star and LWO member Santos Escobar spoke about Bad Bunny on Under the Ring, where he said that he sees Bunny as a ‘WWE superstar’ rather than simply a Grammy winner.
He said:
“Everyone says Bad Bunny is this recording artist and multi-Grammy winner. He’s none of that to me. He’s a WWE Superstar. He has shown respect, commitment, love, and admiration for what we do. The only way I can repay that is with respect. He earned his way into the WWE ring. He has the most difficult task of his WWE career when he faces Damian Priest. I’ve faced Damian Priest. It won’t be easy. I’m sure Bad Bunny is going to have everything he needs to defeat Damian Priest. If Judgment Day decides to show up, LWO is going to be there.”
Bad Bunny and Damian Priest are reportedly pushing to main event the show on Saturday night.
