WWE Star Blames Humbleness For Holding Them Back

WWE Star Blames Humbleness For Holding Them Back

A WWE Smackdown wrestler has cited his humble attitude as the main reason that he hasn’t achieved more in his WWE career.

Although he’s been signed to WWE since 2014, Apollo Crews only won his first championship within the company last year. An impressive athlete, many fans wondered what kept Crews out of the spotlight for so long.

According to Crews himself, he was too humble when joining the WWE main roster. Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Crews claimed that he was was happy to be working for WWE, rather than believing he belonged in the locker room.

Acknowledging that he’d rarely challenge anything before, Crews assured fans that he now has a different mindset.

Here is the full quote:

“I think I was too humble, I think my humbleness worked against me at times. I was just too happy, and I didn’t have the attitude of, I belong here. I deserve to be here, you what I mean? I wasn’t relentless in my pursuit to be the best Superstar that I could be.

“I kind of just, I took things as they came. I didn’t really challenge anything, and I’m still kind of that like at this point, but I look at things with a different mindset. But at the time, it was just like, whatever you guys need me to do, that’s what I’m gonna do…and I think that kind of worked against me.”

Last week on Smackdown, Apollo Crews debuted a new character. Boasting about his royal lineage, Crews told fans that his Nigerian pedigree can be ignored no longer.

An interesting persona years in the making, Crews recently opened up about John Cena and his role in helping Crews develop a character.
