Following the October 8 episode from St. Louis, top WWE star Randy Orton has bonded with rapper Sexyy Red after NXT.
On the October 8 edition of WWE NXT, Randy Orton defeated Je’Von Evans in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.
In an NXT exclusive, Orton was asked about his experience on the NXT brand. He answered:
“We sold out, we’re in St. Louis, I’m very happy to be here, especially for a sold-out NXT show, and I got to work with an incredible talent tonight, only 20 years old.”
“You know him, he’s bouncy, Je’Von Evans. Dude, I’m very excited to see where he goes in the future. He’s gonna be around for as long as he wants to be,”
When asked if he had any advice for Evans, Orton replied:
“We have a lot in common, but there’s a lot of differences, let’s just say. I think that he needs to keep doing what he’s doing.”
“But what I noticed first and foremost after meeting him for the first time today, he’s incredibly humble, he has nothing but respect for the business and the guys like me, the old fuddy-duddies that have been here for over 20 years, and you know what, that means a lot to me. That respect for our industry, it goes a long way, so that respect, I give to him right back tenfold,”
Also on the show, rapper Sexyy Red also appeared in her hometown of St. Louis. Red interrupted Orton’s interview to bond with the WWE star.
Sexyy Red: Hi Randy. What’s up, O.G.? It’s the O.G.
Randy Orton: I’m the O.G.? I feel like you’re the O.G. [Gets handed the microphone] I can do the interview. This could get interesting. So, Sexyy Red, tell us how you’re feeling today.
Red: I’m feeling good. We back in our hometown, we got our families with us. How’re you feeling?
Orton: I’m feeling good. How’d it feel out there in front of [the crowd]? You like that intimate feel, or do you like a bigger venue?
Red: I like the intimate feel, but it makes me more nervous because everybody, you can really see their faces.
Orton noted that he still gets nervous and a true performer always gets nervous, but they learn how to turn that nervousness into fuel for their performance. The two St. Louis natives traded pleasantries and a final message for their hometown, saying:
Orton: Listen, Sexyy, before I let you go, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans here in St. Louis?
Red: I want to say I love y’all, thank you for supporting us, me and Randy.
Orton: That’s right, two St. Louis O.G.’s right here.
