A WWE star has shared their “brutally honest” opinion of their current on-screen angle with a fellow roster member.
In recent weeks WWE have been building an angle between veteran star Natalya and Maxxine Dupri, with segments airing as Raw exclusive uploads to YouTube and WWE.com.
This began with Dupri approaching Natalya for mentorship after the March 3 episode, something Natalya has thus far been non-committal towards.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Natalya shared her “brutally honest” opinion of her on-screen angle with Dupri, putting over her work ethic, while also explaining how she’s cautious of having tag team partners on WWE TV now due to how many she’s had in the past.
Natalya explained:
“I have so much respect for Maxxine, Sydney is her real name. She is very hard working. On her days off, she’s training, she’s going to several different schools, she’s trying to learn, she’s going to the Performance Center. Of course, she didn’t have a wrestling background, she wasn’t on the independents, so she is trying to learn, she is trying to grow.
“But for me, to be brutally honest, I do have to be careful about aligning myself with anyone. Because think about how many tag team partners I’ve had in the past. And that’s also because I’ve been in WWE for so long – two decades – of course I’m gonna have a lot of tag team partners, but I really wanna be careful as far as moving forward what I do and who I’m aligned with and that everyone has the same sort of vision that I do, which is greatness.
“I do not wanna do anything that’s mediocre, I wanna do things that are great. And so that’s the thing, I just am ready to do great work, and I think Maxxine is totally capable of doing great work, but it’s gonna take time for me to really align myself with anyone because of having so many different tag team partners.”
