WWE Star Admits Babyface Character ‘Flatlined’ Ahead Of Recent Heel Turn

WWE Star Admits Babyface Character ‘Flatlined’ Ahead Of Recent Heel Turn WWE

Ahead of Clash At The Castle, WWE Raw star Chad Gable says his babyface character “flatlined” before his recent heel turn.

At WWE Clash At The Castle, Sami Zayn defeated Chad Gable to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

This was the latest matchup in the rivalry that kicked off after Gable helped train Zayn to defeat GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40. When Gable was unable to defeat Sami for the gold, he snapped and attacked Zayn in front of his family in Montreal.

Speaking with The Gorilla Position, Chad Gable discussed his recent heel turn and feeling his babyface character had “flatlined” ahead of WrestleMania 40. Revealing the heel turn was his idea, Gable said:

“The whole idea to turn heel was kind of my idea.

“I felt like I flatlined as a babyface somewhere around WrestleMania. I came up short against Gunther a few times. Came up short against Sami.

“At a certain point, something has to change, or people are not going to buy into you any further. I had the idea, ‘Let’s do it,’ it just so happened we were going to be in Montreal, Sami’s hometown, the week after Mania when I was having that match.

“I was like, ‘there could not be a better place to do this thing.’ We made it happen and the stars aligned. I feel like it’s worked out in our favor.

“Since then, Otis is this perfect sympathetic guy that you can’t help buy feel bad for. We have everything in our favor working for us.”

Otis walked out on Chad Gable with Maxxine Dupri at Clash at the Castle, with Gable expected to soon replace his current Alpha Academy team with the Creed Brothers and potentially Ivy Nile.
