A WWE star has reacted to being chosen by John Cena to be a part of a recent big match for which he selected the participants.
Ahead of his in-ring retirement, John Cena chose the fields for this past weekend’s Iron Survivor Challenge matches at WWE NXT Deadline.
For the men’s field, he chose Je’Von Evans, Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox and Myles Borne.
The women’s lineup as announced by Cena feature Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan and Kendal Grey.
Evans won the men’s match and Grey – who is also the current WWE Evolve Women’s Champion – won the women’s.
Speaking on Busted Open, Grey reacted to being chosen by Cena and what she believes Cena has seen in her that led to his decision. She said:
“I would like to say that he sees my grittiness. I’m a smaller girl, and I think no-one would expect the amount of aggression, intensity and grittiness that I have, that I bring in the ring.
“And I think that hopefully he’s seen that in the last couple of matches I’ve had on NXT or on Evolve, and he sees, ‘Wow, this girl has it. She has something that she can bring to the table.'”

Grey will get her shot at NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne at New Year’s Evil at the start of 2026.
